The Lafrowda Club has stood proudly at the centre of St Just since 1847.
Originally the Club was built with funds from public subscription as the St Just Literary and Scientific Institute. Its aim was to be a place of learning and advancement for the local community.
Thanks to the initiative of St Just people today, the building is being renovated. Once again it will be a unique space for both local residents and visitors, but fit for the 21st century – accessible and energy efficient.
The project will not just save a historic building. It will house an archive, an arts and entertainment venue, and some affordable office space in the heart of St Just.
The twenty-first century Lafrowda Club will be a hub for local heritage, arts and culture, celebration and fun. A place to remember the past, enjoy the present, and look to the future.
