Moving Forward

The Plan

The building will be renovated so that it retains its character but is fully-accessible and energy efficient. It will house a local archive and an arts and entertainment venue, along with some much-needed affordable office space.

The Building

Our aim is to retain as much of the club’s unique character as possible but be far more user-friendly. We’ll have an accessible entrance and a lift to reach the upper floor. There will be a new kitchen and toilet facilities and energy-efficient heating throughout.

Community Involvement

Community is at the heart of St Just. Local input and on-going consultation will underpin everything we do. We’ll prioritise local contractors and suppliers.

When the club re-opens it will welcome individuals, schools and all manner of local groups. We’ll promote arts and cultural activity, share expertise and experience, and reach out to the wider world.

St Just is central to the World Heritage Mining District. There are people around the world who came originally from here. Our archive will be a place where they can reconnect with their roots.

The Future

In the twenty-first century sustainability is key. Our mixed-use venue will generate income to cover running costs and day-to-day maintenance, so events and activities will be affordable for everyone.

Our use of local suppliers and contractors will create employment opportunities, while our unique events space will offer a wide range of entertainment. There’ll be something for everyone.

Together we’ll be able to move with the times, adapt to new ideas, and encourage creativity and initiative.
