Remembering St Just – past, present, future
The Lafrowda Club has been at the centre of the St Just community since it first opened its doors in 1847.
Back then it was called the Scientific and Literary Institute, and local people mostly worked the land and the ocean. They farmed on the surface, fished in the sea, and mined below both – different worlds, inextricably linked together.
When the club is fully renovated we’ll have a local archive to preserve and share those special memories that shaped our community. We’ll also collect stories from people today to pass on to future generations.
As that’s a while away yet, we’re very pleased right now to be one of the participating organisations in Awen Productions’ latest Arts Council and Awards for All funded audio-visual project – Cultural Voices.
Watch out for more about this in the coming months.
